VANCOUVER—Bishop Emeritus David Monroe has lost count of how many nativity sets he owns.

The retired bishop of Kamloops started collecting crèches 14 years ago and estimates he's owned as many as 60 at once. They come from as far away as China, India. Madagascar, Mexico, and Tanzania, and no two are the same.
