At 125 metres above sea level, Queen Elizabeth Park is the highest spot in Vancouver, so what better place to bring Jesus on the feast of Corpus Christi?

To celebrate Corpus Christi, Holy Name of Jesus pastor Father Rodney Nootebos says he wants to bring the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament to “the highest point in Vancouver.”

Following the 11 a.m. Mass, Father Nootebos will lead a parish procession to Queen Elizabeth Park, conveniently located across the street from the church.

The procession will wind its way up toward the lookout at the top of the park, “where we’re going to have benediction, lifting Jesus up and blessing the entire city,” said Angie Dee, Coordinator of Discipleship at Holy Name of Jesus.

Since Sunday is also Father’s Day, the event will be “a beautiful way of celebrating these two occasions, honouring our earthly fathers as well as our heavenly Father for the gift of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist,” said Dee.

Archbishop Miller has encouraged all parishes to hold a Eucharistic procession if possible on Corpus Christi Sunday.
