The John Paul II Pastoral Centre hosted its annual Christmas tree lighting, a tradition marked by Archbishop Michael Miller’s blessing. The evening was made even more special with carols sung by the pastoral centre staff who spread musical joy and festive spirit.
Canada Post’s 2024 Christmas stamp depicts a vibrantly coloured illustration of the Holy Family, with Mary and Joseph looking lovingly at the infant Jesus. The Christmas star is visible overhead. The stamp was designed by Underline Studio and illustrated by Canadian artist Amanda Arlotta. The official first-day cover of the stamp was cancelled in Trinity, Newfoundland and Labrador, because of the town’s reference to the Holy Trinity.

St. Nicholas visited the children at St. James in Abbotsford during a recent Knights of Columbus parish pancake breakfast.
Dr. Fiona Li was chosen as the inaugural holder of the Archbishop J. Michael Miller Chair in Catholic Studies at St. Mark’s College at UBC. Dr. Li’s primary area of theological interest is Mariology, an area where St. Mark’s does not yet offer any courses, although it is a focus often desired by students. Her doctoral thesis, “Exploring the Image of Mary as Bridge-Builder (Pontifex) for Contemporary Contextual Theology,” exemplifies her innovative approach to theological discourse.
The Life Compass Society annual Walk, Run or Bike for Life saw 75 participants raised over $10,000. An organizer said it was the best result in the event’s 10-year history. Archdiocese of Vancouver pro-life chaplain Father Larry Lynn blessed the participants as they started.
