The past year has obviously been full of challenges for everyone around the world, as well as for the Church.
Illness, financial hardship, isolation, and radical changes to how we the Church gather and communicate have fortunately inspired mammoth efforts to keep us as connected as possible and to do everything we can to comfort and support the people we encounter.
The pandemic has also caused many of us to reconsider our priorities and to ask some big questions: What is important in our lives? What deep meaning is there in our current challenges? How can we best care for each other? How is God moving in all of this?
Thankfully, we are seeing a growing thirst for answers to these big questions. People are spending more time looking for explanations for the uncertainty and confusion they’re experiencing. They’re going online, studying and reading more about life, faith, and meaning.
To help answer these big questions about life that so many are asking, the people at the Augustine Institute have developed a video series called The Search. The seven visually stunning 25-minute episodes were created by former Disney filmmaker Steve Flanigan and are narrated by acclaimed speaker and TV host Chris Stefanik, author of Raising Pure Teens and many other books.
The Archdiocese of Vancouver is partnering with the Augustine Institute to host The Search on seven consecutive Thursdays starting Nov. 5. Join us online each week as we watch a new episode together, followed by a hosted panel discussion where we’ll unpack the questions that are raised.
Our panelists include well-known Catholic speakers, local and international, lay people and religious. In the final episode, Archbishop J. Michael Miller will join us to answer your questions and share his thoughts about for the final episode where he looks forward to answering your questions and sharing his thoughts about the issues addressed in The Search.
This is an important time in our Church, and events like The Search can unify us and prepare us to share the good news with a world that is in desperate need of hope and answers.
Registration opens Oct. 30. To find out more and to register for The Search, visit rcav.org/thesearch.
