Students at St. Mark’s College are literally filling their bowls with hope, and soup, as the weekly Lenten series Fill Your Bowl with Hope continues until Easter.

After the 12:10 Mass at the chapel, UBC students gather in Plato’s Cave next door for a light vegetarian lunch and talk on the theme of hope.

In the pleasantly crowded café, students have so far heard Leah Bittante speak on The Journey to Life Within, Annette Kuhn and Patrick Byron from L’Arche on how to Change the World One Heart at a Time, and Archbishop J. Michael Miller on Hope Amidst Darkness.

Next week’s presentation is Chastity is Freedom by Deacon Hilmar Pabel, followed April 10 by B.C. Catholic columnist and mental health advocate Lisa Rumpel’s talk You Are Brave. The final April 17 speaker is Holy Cross high school teacher Yolanta Samus with That Thing Where Your Worst Fear Leads to Your Biggest Blessing.

All are welcome and lunch is free. For more information visit corpuschristi.ca/campus-life-and-ministry/liturgy-lunch.
