The Door Is Open, a drop-in centre for people who are homeless or have low incomes in the Downtown Eastside, is wishing its longest-serving staff member a happy retirement.
Ken Schmidt was hired in 1996 by founder Brother Timothy MacDonald and retired this year.
The Door Is Open serves at least one free meal daily, 365 days of the year, to people in need.
