VANCOUVER—Local Catholic schools will be saying goodbye to a beloved and long-time educator at the end of this school year.

Dan Moric, who brought 31 years of experience in the Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese when he became superintendent in 2015, is about to retire.

“I owe an extreme debt of gratitude to CISVA and we will see what God now holds in store for those who love him,” Moric said in an email to staff and friends in early February.

He said he wasn’t eager to retire only three years after taking the job, but is doing so for health reasons.

“The decision is precipitated by cardiac health issues and, admittedly, comes earlier than I would have otherwise planned,” he said in the email.

Moric, who over the years served at Corpus Christi Elementary, St. John Brebeuf Regional Secondary, and St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary, will remain as superintendent of CISVA until the end of the 2017-2018 school year.
