Burnaby school prays for Humboldt Broncos after tragic crash
By Agnieszka Ruck
BURNABY—When the news broke that 16 people, including members of the junior hockey team Humboldt Broncos, died in a tragic vehicle accident in rural Saskatchewan, condolences and prayers began flooding in from across the globe.
Many groups across Canada held a vigil in honour of the slain April 12. Among them was St. Helen’s School in Burnaby.
Students wore jerseys and team colours to show their support for Humboldt that day. Principal Waldemar Sambor said candles were lit for each of the 16 victims and the Grade 4 class led the school in a decade of the Rosary.
