Organizer Louise Graham considers it a big success: seven active Christian denominations in North Delta gathered to pray, learn, and get to know each other March 5.
She said members from Surrey Free Methodist, New Hope Christian, Royal Heights Baptist, Trinity Lutheran, North Delta Evangelical Free, and St. Cuthbert’s Anglican churches all joined Immaculate Conception parishioners for the ecumenical event celebrating the World Day of Prayer.
This year’s event focused on the country of Zimbabwe and the plight of people suffering from HIV/AIDS, especially orphans being raised by their grandparents or fending for themselves. Featured speakers included Mike and Carmen van Zanten, who work with Let’s Give Them Hope, a charity that offers food, education, basic medical services, and support for children and teens.
