Lent is here once again. Local Catholics marked the beginning of the solemn season with Ash Wednesday liturgies all over the Lower Mainland, including in some unique places!
Yesterday, Archbishop J. Michael Miller brushed ashes onto the foreheads of men staying at the Catholic Charities Men’s Hostel, a shelter for the homeless, while Deacon Dileep Athaide led a short liturgy with crew members on two container ships at Delta Port.
The Archdiocese of Vancouver is encouraging Catholics to experience a “deeper Lent” this year. Resources about prayer, fasting, and confession are available here.
