Thank you for the letters of appreciation sent in to honour Pope Francis’ 10th anniversary. I too deeply appreciate our Holy Father in the way he has from the very beginning visited people who were not on most people’s radar, such as the island of Lampedusa.

I appreciate our Holy Father giving great credence to those missionaries who silently go about their business without fanfare and reach out to people in remote lands.

I appreciate our Holy Father reaching out to the untouchables, and his acknowledging so humbly his mistakes and impatience, when for example he was annoyed at the woman who wanted to shake his hand. Francis sought her out to apologize to her, although she was the one at fault.

Truly he has given new emphasis and holiness to the pastoral activity of the Church

I was so grateful and encouraged reading the March 6 article “Moms and Tots groups come to the rescue for weary mothers,” about Moms and Tots groups opening up around the archdiocese.

We also opened up a Moms and Tots group at Christ the Redeemer as we wanted to create a space where Catholic mothers could meet and connect. As a mom of a 21-month-old and a newborn, I found it difficult to meet mothers in and around Mass.

Our group has been running for about six months and it’s such a wonderful time to have a coffee and chat with the other moms who have a similar faith and value system. It’s also so lovely getting to know the kids and supporting one another in the motherhood journey. Our group is looking forward to some outdoor gatherings when the weather warms up!

Thanks for running the story and emphasizing the importance of these groups. I hope that parishes, moms, and families continue to value these groups and foster their development and continuation.

As a subscriber I want to express appreciation for the advertising support given to The B.C. Catholic by Kearney Funeral Services, in particular around March.

Their celebratory call of a “Happy St. Patrick’s Day,” and in Irish too (La Fiele Padraig Faoi Shonas Daoigh) is great to see.

My experiences with the likes of Frank Kearney in the 1970s, and with Ellen, Michael, Ryan, and Thomas Crean, have been top-shelf over the decades. I know that my late father, Thomas O’Flynn, and many others of Irish background, always looked to Kearney’s as the go-to for a proper send-off.
