Thank you to Pat Macken for his wonderful April 3 article “Athletes don’t deserve penalties for keeping faith.”
This is the first article I have read that stands up for athletes who defend their beliefs and faith and who have trust in God.
Why do other journalists worldwide not defend athletes and celebrities who stand up for their faith? What are they afraid of?
Many Christians stood up for their lives centuries ago and set the path of following our Lord and his teachings. He came to earth to guide and lead us to a life that is wholesome and loving.
I look forward to reading more of Pat Macken’s articles and extend warm congratulations to him on his work and his faith.

I am saddened to read Mark Holland’s May 1 letter about Catholic doctors and mandates.
Vaccine mandates were necessary to save lives. Anyone who is Catholic and pro-life must consider the full picture. It means everything from conception to the grave, including saving lives from abortion, euthanasia, and anything else that is life-threatening, especially to seniors at that stage of their life.
God gave us a brain and he expects us to use it wisely. If you are so upset by mandates, offer your pain to God.
Pope Francis is vaccinated and promoted vaccination. As an RN, I promoted protection and health care for all for 42 years. I am shocked that The B.C. Catholic would promote breaking the law by publishing anti-mandate viewpoints. We must support health science.
