VANCOUVER—Father Joachim Aldaba was ordained a priest in a California-based Norbertine community this year. However, the man formerly known back at home as Anthony, returned to St. Andrew’s in Vancouver to reconnect with his community and celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving this July.
“I think the source of my vocation, the more I think about it now and the more people ask, was in those years in elementary school, serving our Lord at the altar during Mass,” Father Aldaba told The B.C. Catholic in 2016.
“I was really drawn to the priesthood by good relationships I had with my parish priest at St. Andrew’s.”
His older brother, Richard Aldaba, has also joined the Norbertine community and taken the name Frater Emmanuel.
