MISSION—Father Thomas Nicholson, ordained at St. Augustine’s Parish in Vancouver in 1967, celebrated his 50th anniversary of ordination earlier this year.
“Father Tom has, over the years, continually offered each of us shepherd’s care, fatherly love, God’s boundless mercy, and Jesus’ Body and Blood in the Eucharist,” said friend Anna Mariner.
Father Nicholson entered Christ the King seminary in 1962 and was ordained five years later. He has served Catholic communities in Gibsons, Maple Ridge, Mission, Powell River, Richmond, Sechelt, and Vancouver. He also spent a year as the editor of The B.C. Catholic in the 1960s.
The 50th anniversary celebrations included a special dinner as well as Masses at St. Joseph’s Parish and Westminster Abbey.
