Birthright Vancouver, a pro-life organization run entirely by volunteers, is grateful for the support after 50 people came out for a Walk/Run fundraiser June 16.
Participants raised $8,000 as they walked or ran about 2.5 kilometres around Queen Elizabeth Park, then gathered for refreshment, live music, and prizes at Holy Name Parish.
Altar servers from St. John the Apostle Parish donated $1,800 of that total, taking home the prize for raising the most money June 16.
Birthright, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, provides free and confidential services for women with unplanned pregnancies. It offers pregnancy tests, discussion of abortion alternatives, baby and maternity clothing, and connections to community services.
