Star of the Sea Parish community kicked off a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the White Rock church.

The May 6 Mass was concelebrated by former assistant pastor Bishop Gary Franken, now Bishop of St. Paul, Alberta. With him were pastor Father Augustine Obiwumma and assistant pastor Reverend Mark Gazin.

The original church building, located within walking distance of White Rock Beach, was dedicated May 4th, 1924, by Father Maurice Lepine, OMI.
