Five-Day mission will help people prepare for Lent

Individuals seeking to enrich their spirituality during the Jubilee Year of Mercy may find guidance at a five-day mission at Corpus Christi Church.
“The conference will help (attendees) do some soul searching and show them what they can be, especially in the Year of Mercy,” said Helen Estrellado, an event promoter.
The event is intended to give spiritual support and a deeper understanding of the jubilee year.
“It is to help people prepare spiritually for the season of Lent, especially in the Year of Mercy,” Estrellado said. There will be an emphasis on mercy, as the Jubilee stresses the importance of reconciliation and the Lord’s compassion.
“Every year we have a parish mission during Lent,” said Estrellado. Father Bruce-John Hamilton “invites priests and guests to talk about something in preparation for Easter.”
This year’s guest speaker will be Father William Casey, CPM. “Father Casey is a noted EWTN speaker, and is from the Fathers of Mercy,” Estrellado explained. EWTN is a Catholic American television network. The topics of Father Casey’s daily talks are intended to be a surprise.
There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction after Father Casey’s presentations. Confessions will be heard at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The conference will run Feb. 21-25, 7-8 p.m. each night, with Mass Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. More information is available at 604-324-2265 and at parish.cc@rcav.org.
