The Honourable Patricia Mathilda Proudfoot, a papal award recipient and the first woman named to the B.C. Supreme Court, has died at the age of 91.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Augustine’s Church, Vancouver.

In March 17, 2014, B.C. Catholic profiled Justice Proudfoot after she received the Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, the highest papal award for the laity.

In 1993 she was one of two B.C. Court of Appeal judges who ruled that Sue Rodriguez had no legal right to assisted suicide.
