Father Jan Staszel, SDB, has some talents and he isn't afraid to use them.

Apparently, the assistant pastor at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish has passions for singing and baking, and has decided to put them to good use by finding ways to support Agape Street Ministry, a non-profit that serves women living on the streets.

Last Christmas, he joined Agape volunteers in outdoor caroling and giving away 55 gift bags filled with toiletries, socks, gloves, and other items to homeless or poor women.

Then, this February, Father Staszel spearheaded an initiative to make dozens of heart-shaped cheesecakes to sell around Valentine's Day. That raised $661 for Agape.

And around Easter, with the help of a few young volunteers, Father Staszel created chocolate lambs and placed them on plates decorated with chocolate eggs. These, he and Agape volunteers gave away to women living on the streets as Easter gifts.

Dan Dobin of Agape thanked Father Staszel for not hesitating to use his gifts when he sees a need. “Father Jan will be leaving Our Lady of Good Counsel at the end of June after serving here for 14 years. We will miss his generosity, kindness, thoughtfulness, and his many talents.”
