Fundraising Gala to be held May 16

A speaker with a powerful testimony to the value of life and adoption is coming to the Italian Cultural Centre in Vancouver.
Ryan Bomberger, who was conceived in rape and adopted into a 15-member family with many other adopted siblings, is now raising adopted children of his own.
“He has a really powerful personal story,” said Carrie Davidson, executive director of Signal Hill. “It’s a heartfelt story of the importance of life and valuing life.”
Her organization is hosting the American activist as the keynote speaker at Focus on Life, an annual fundraiser to be held May 16.
The event, now in its 18th year, is held in partnership with the Archdiocese of Vancouver and the Christian Advocacy Society. Davidson said the goal is to raise funds for life-affirming media. “Every year we’ll raise money for a project.”
Last year’s funds contributed to a yet-to-be-released informational video for pregnant women in crisis situations.
“It will give anybody in a crisis pregnancy situation unbiased, truthful information that they need to make an informed decision,” Davidson said. The video, completed by a team of creative workers at Glass Canvas, a Langley design company, will be unveiled at the fundraiser.
Davidson said the projects that will get support at the May 16 gala will also be named that day. The event usually sells out at about 500 tickets.
“We’re really excited to have Ryan,” Davidson said. The keynote speaker is well acquainted with the benefits of good media as the Chief Creative Officer of the life-affirming Radiance Foundation. He is also the man behind the bold Too Many Aborted initiative, and speaks on many topics including abortion, adoption, fatherlessness, marriage, racism, and poverty.
Tickets for the gala dinner and fundraiser cost $75; registration is at 604-532-0023 or www.focusonlife.ca.
