The worried family of a missing Holy Cross Secondary student is making a public appeal for his safe return home.

Family members of 14-year-old Joseph Chen say he was last seen on Thursday, March 2. They said they they are unable to reach him by phone, and his credit card and transit Compass cards haven’t used.

Surrey RCMP say Joseph he was last seen Thursday about 2:30 p.m. in the 16200 block of 88th Ave. He was wearing a khaki-coloured jacket and brown pajama pants with a teddy bear pattern.

Joseph Chen, 14, a student at Holy Cross Regional Secondary in Surrey, has been missing since last Thursday.

The family says Joseph was also seen on video walking on the east side of the Alex Fraser Bridge towards Delta between 4 and 5 p.m.

Police described Joseph as five feet six inches tall, about 123 pounds, and with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes. They said it is out of character for him to be out of touch for this long.

A March 3 YouTube video appeals for Joseph’s safe return and has more than 500 views. Comments include prayers from Holy Cross staff and students for his safe return.

Anyone with possible information, including drivers who might have dash cam footage from the two areas Joseph was reportedly seen Thursday, is asked to contact Delta Police at 604-946-4411.
