A U.S. group that has gained popularity in the Lower Mainland is going to return for another event this spring.

Dynamic Catholic will be at Star of the Sea Parish April 30. The last time a member of the “be bold, be Catholic” group came to that parish, in 2014, tickets were sold out and the church swelled with about 800 people.

“The message of Dynamic Catholic has the thread that runs through all their literature: about being the best version of yourself according to God’s plan,” said Janice Hamanishi, the parish volunteer coordinator who is helping organize the event.

“People are drawn to simple and practical daily living having to do with the Gospel.”

The group’s founder, Matthew Kelly, is the author of “Rediscover Catholicism,” a book published in 2011 which has been sold or given away in many parishes in the Archdiocese of Vancouver.

Kelly’s more recent book, “Rediscover Jesus,” was given as a Christmas gift to each Star of the Sea parishioner in 2015. It is the basis of Best Lent Ever, a 40-day email campaign that was a hit among many parishioners, Hamanishi said.

“Traditionally, Catholics are used to catechism.” Dynamic Catholic is attractive because of its engaging approach, with “practical, life-changing, inspirational themes running through all their speeches and video clips.”

Allen Hunt, a Catholic convert, former mega-church pastor, author, and Dynamic Catholic speaker, will give the presentation April 30.
