VANCOUVER—About 100 students from St. Mary's elementary school took a field trip to Mountain View Cemetery Nov. 7 to pray and place poppies on the graves of veterans.
The trip made St. Mary's the first school in Vancouver to participate in No Stone Left Alone, a national Remembrance Day initiative first launched in Edmonton in 2011.
The organization expects 7,000 students from 60 schools will lay more than 40,000 poppies on the graves of veterans this year.
