CHILLIWACK—More than 100 people came out to celebrate the 70th birthday of St. Mary’s Elementary May 19.

The school marked the significant milestone with a pancake breakfast - provided by the local Knights of Columbus - and an open house displaying a timeline of photos from 1948-2018.

“We are very blessed to have provided Catholic education in Chilliwack over the past 70 years and we look forward to the next 70,” said the school’s Pat Symes.

Special guests included speaker Steven Point, a provincial court judge and former B.C. Lieutenant Governor, and video messages from Bishops Gary Gordon and Mark Hagemoen, as well as three students from the class of 1948.
