BURNABY—Students at St. Helen's School were thrilled to bring their pets out for a special blessing on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi Oct. 8.

Father Leonardo Rocha, CS, and Deacon Patrick Dwan blessed more than 100 animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and one bearded dragon. Even principal Waldemar Sambor brought his dog, Silky, out for the occasion.

It was a true reminder that we need to care for all of God's creations.

It was the first-ever pet blessing at St. Helen's school. Father Rocha and Deacon Dwan led a short prayer service, with music and readings, before they blessed the animals.
