Students, teachers, and parents at St. Helen's School once again held a unique event in honour of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi: a blessing of pets.

Families were invited to the school Oct. 4 for an outdoor prayer service and to have holy water sprinkled on their dogs, cats, and other creatures.

St. Helen's runs this pet blessing annually on the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the 13th-century friar known for his love of creation, animals, and the poor.
