The Order of Friars Minor in Canada has announced the creation of a new Canadian chapter.

The new Holy Spirit Province includes 87 Franciscan brothers aged 32-97 living and serving in Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec. Most are Canadian, but several have moved here from Europe, Asia, or Africa.

They serve in several parishes across Canada. In B.C., the Order of Friars Minor are at Immaculate Conception in Vancouver and St. Joseph the Worker in Richmond. Other friars in the Holy Spirit Province are professors, students, retreat leaders, authors, missionaries, spiritual directors, and even operators of a museum in Trois-Rivieres.

Provincial headquarters will be at Montreal's at La Resurrection convent, and the new leader of the province is Pierre Charland, OFM.
