Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, welcomed Chief Robert Joseph to the archdiocese's headquarters Oct. 31.

Joseph is a hereditary chief of the Gwawaenuk First Nation and one of the last few speakers of the Kwakwaka'wakw language. He is the Ambassador for Reconciliation Canada and was the executive director of the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.

He and Archbishop Miller discussed the need for discussions on public policy to consider the value of First Nations spirituality and faith traditions, and other matters.
