The newly formed Christian Civic Affairs Committees of Canada has managed something of an achievement, confirming three of four federal Conservative leadership candidates for a question and answer session on Zoom this evening.

The Vancouver-based civic affairs organization, which got its start last year, has candidates Derek Sloan, Leslyn Lewis, and Erin O’Toole lined up for the online Q&A sessions. Only Peter MacKay had not committed by Wednesday afternoon.

The Conservative Party of Canada will choose a new leader in August, and civic affairs committee president Marc Vella said the organization wanted to hold the Q&A calls before this Friday’s deadline to become a party member and vote in the leadership contest.

Vella said the organization, which is now in parishes and other Christian churches across the Lower Mainland, hopes to invite the Green Party of Canada to a similar event before the party holds its leadership contest in October.

Tonight’s back-to-back Zoom calls start at 6 p.m. (PT). Each call will start with a brief introduction by the candidate, followed by a question-and-answer session for the rest of the half hour.
