Catholic participation was notable at Abbotsford’s Canada Day parade, with clergy and laypeople young and old making the nearly two-kilometre trek through the city.

Members of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Women’s League from St. Ann’s Parish made their way by foot along the parade route, while the parish bus rolled along behind them, decked out in Canadian flags and streamers.

In Richmond, St. Monica’s Parish, in collaboration with Richmond’s Highway to Heaven Association, set up a tent on Canada Day at the 75th Anniversary event of the Steveston Salmon Festival Fair.

In Delta, the Pro-Life Group at Sacred Heart celebrated the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade during a parish picnic, with pastor Father Francis Galvan, OSA, (taking the selfie below) taking part.

More than 50 people took part in the second annual St. John Paul II Pastoral Centre walkathon, a community-building and fundraising effort in support of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA). Eight teams took part in the 6K walk-or-run event in the weeks leading up to Pentecost and raised $2,585, up from the $1,814 raised last year for Chalice. Hat tip to Grace Alonsabe of the Development Office with her total of 263,943 Fitbit steps!
