Parishes across the Archdiocese of Vancouver celebrated the June 23 feast of Corpus Christi with Eucharistic processions, as young, old, veterans, and first-timers took to the streets to publicly proclaim their faith.

Holy Cross in Burnaby held its second annual procession, with more than 100 people joining eight colour guards from other parishes and walking from the church to the extended parish neighbourhood.

Father Tomasz Staruzyk began with prayers and Deacon Tim Morris led the Rosary as a cantor and participants sang. The procession ended with benediction at the church.

“Some people had never done the Eucharistic procession, said Makiko Morelli. “Some remembered their childhood memories of being in the procession, and some shared their blessings of participating in the procession. Most importantly, we brought Jesus to the streets of Burnaby!”

At St. Anthony of Padua in Vancouver, a lengthy procession stretched around the Marpole neighbourhood, led by Deacon Andrew Kung.

At the end of the procession, Pastor Father Justin Huang blessed parishioners and the neighbourhood from the rooftop of St. Anthony of Padua Elementary School.

At St. Mary’s in Chilliwack, pastor Father Giovanni Schiesari led a procession of nearly 200 people through the parish neighbourhood.

At St. Nicholas in Langley, Father Nixon D’Silva led about 150 parishioners in a neighbourhood procession.
