The ongoing postal strike has prompted The B.C. Catholic to launch a digital-only plan to ensure readers continue to have access to its weekly content.
While the print edition is temporarily paused, the newspaper is making its digital edition available for free, keeping readers informed and connected during the labour disruption.

Paul Schratz, editor of The B.C. Catholic, announced several steps to reach the Catholic community and raise awareness of the free digital edition:
- Email Campaign: Archdiocese of Vancouver newsletter subscribers will receive direct emails with simple instructions to access the digital edition at bccatholic.ca.
- Social Media Outreach: The newspaper is leveraging its social media platforms to spread the word about the free digital edition and encouraging followers to share the news within their networks.
- Parish Bulletins: Parishes are being asked to include announcements in bulletins to ensure parishioners know about the free digital edition.
- Website Updates: A prominent banner on The B.C. Catholic website and other Archdiocese of Vancouver pages directs readers to the digital edition with a single click.
The newspaper is also reaching out to Catholic schools and organizations to spread awareness of the free digital access.
“We regret this disruption to thousands of readers who look forward to getting The B.C. Catholic in their mail each week, said Schratz. “We’re deeply grateful for their support and want to make sure they stay connected with us during this disruption. We’re also hoping others will become regular readers by taking advantage of the free digital access we’re providing for the next little while,” Schratz said.
The newspaper plans to resume its print edition as soon as mail service is back to normal.
