A well-known activist opposed to assisted suicide and euthanasia is coming to Vancouver.
Alex Schadenberg, head of the Ontario-based Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, will speak about the implications of Bill C-14 at the John Paul II Pastoral Centre May 5.
The event is being organized by the Vancouver archdiocese’s Office of Life, Marriage, and Family.
“There’s still time to influence those who are writing the bill,” said director Sister John Mary Sullivan, FSE. “We can only influence if we are informed.”
Schadenberg is expected to discuss elder abuse and conscience rights for doctors and institutions.
“We must stand for the conscience rights of anyone in the medical field,” said Sister Sullivan. “We need to be informed which of our own rights are going to be protected, both for our own awareness and for the rights of our loved ones.”
The free event at the centre, 4818 Willow St., Vancouver, is to begin at 7 p.m. Info: 604-683-0281, email olmf@rcav.org.
