Three men are to be ordained transitional deacons in Holy Rosary Cathedral May 6.
Seminarians Juan Lucca, Giovanni Schiesari, and Francesco Voltaggio will be ordained by Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, during a Mass which will begin at 7 p.m.
Father Bryan Duggan, the vocations director of the archdiocese, said the occasion is a great gift.
“The fact the Lord is calling men in this day and age to serve the Church in Vancouver – and not just one, but three, – is an extraordinary grace.”
The Lord “doesn’t just call a certain type of man,” Father Duggan pointed out; the three men come from very different backgrounds.
Lucca attended the seminary of Christ the King. Schiesari came from Northern Italy, where he did most of his studies before moving to Canada. Voltaggio did most of his seminary studies in Rome before completing them in Canada.
“I’m very excited for all three of them and their ministry,” Father Duggan said. “I want to see what they will bring to the archdiocese.”
