St. Helen's Parish is planning a 100th anniversary celebration in gala style. The parish will host a black and white tie fundraising gala at the Croatian Cultural Centre April 14. It will be sponsored by the St. Helen's Centennial Committee and CUBE, a fundraising committee for the parish and school.
"We are hoping our combined efforts to celebrate the centennial and raise funds for the parish will be a huge success!" said Marilynn Tesan, one of the event organizers.
The gala will feature music by Allegro and Italian cuisine from Orlando Catering. There will also be live and silent auctions.
St. Helen's will continue to celebrate its 100th anniversary in the spring and summer. A Centennial Spring Music Festival will take place May 27; Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, will bless the Centennial Marker (the bell from the original 1912 church) Aug. 11; and a parish picnic is planned for Aug. 12.
Tickets for St. Helen's gala are available for $75 through the parish, 604-298-4144. The gala will start at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. The Croatian Cultural Centre is at 3250 Commercial Drive, Vancouver.
